Start with the exported file
A PSD project and a JPEG export are different files with different metadata. Inspect the file you intend to publish. Keep your project and original photograph untouched so you can return to them or document your edit.
If a platform has labeled your picture, do not assume the EXIF Software field alone explains it. The checker lists recognized metadata containers; it does not infer which field a platform used.
Choose what to preserve
Keep camera EXIF preserves the entire EXIF block. That can retain camera settings and EXIF-based author information, but also GPS, comments, thumbnails or editing data. It is a preservation option, not a guarantee that all AI-related fields are removed.
Both modes remove XMP and IPTC containers. Credits, captions, licensing information or copyright stored in those containers will be removed too. If those fields are important to your delivery, keep the original and review the client’s metadata requirements before cleaning.
A repeatable handoff workflow
- Finish editing and export a standard JPG, PNG or WebP. Specialized multi-picture or HDR gain-map JPEGs are rejected.
- Select the cleaning mode and inspect the export.
- Clean a separate copy, then verify its dimensions, orientation and appearance.
- Save the verification report with your delivery notes. If you later re-export, run the new version through inspection again.
Common questions
Can this edit my Photoshop project?
No. PSD and PSB files are not supported. Use a finished JPG, PNG or WebP export.
Will it preserve all copyright information?
No. It retains EXIF only in Keep camera EXIF mode; copyright stored in removed XMP or IPTC blocks will not survive.
Does a small AI edit always trigger a platform label?
No universal trigger rule is established here. The tool reports file metadata without claiming to predict platform behavior.
