Why a real photo can show AI info

Meta says its labeling uses industry signals and user disclosures. It has acknowledged that minor AI retouching could trigger its earlier wording. Its published policy distinguishes AI-generated content from content edited with AI, including differences in where information appears.

That context matters: a photo can begin with a camera and later acquire editing metadata. But a label is not proof that a particular container caused it. This site has not performed a controlled Instagram labeling study and does not claim a guaranteed label-free result.

Inspect your final export before posting

  1. Keep the camera original and your edit project. Export a final JPG, PNG or WebP copy.
  2. Open the AI metadata checker. Review the metadata containers instead of assuming that all EXIF or every credential means AI generation.
  3. Choose Privacy clean if you also want camera and location details removed. Keep camera EXIF retains those fields, including any AI-related data inside EXIF.
  4. Download the verified copy. Preview it at full size and check the orientation before deciding where to share it.
  5. For a carousel, inspect each image. For a Reel, inspect the video and any separate cover using the appropriate tools.

What to do when the post is already live

Cleaning your local copy does not update Instagram’s stored media. Open the label’s information and check the options Instagram currently provides for that post. If you believe it is incorrect, use the platform’s reporting or review route where available, and retain your original files as evidence.

Do not delete a valuable post just because a tool promises that uploading a cleaned copy will solve the problem. That would lose the existing post and still cannot guarantee a different label. Metadata cleanup is a separate file-management decision.

Keep disclosure accurate

If the image was generated or materially altered with AI, describe that involvement when required. Removing metadata does not make the work camera-original or change the platform’s rules. An honest caption can explain a small edit more precisely than an automatic label.

Common questions

Can a website switch off Instagram AI info?

No. This website has no access to your Instagram account. It only processes the files you select locally.

Will a screenshot fix the label?

A screenshot creates a new image and can lose resolution and color information. It is not a reliable way to control Instagram’s labeling.

Should I remove all camera metadata?

Only if that suits your privacy needs. Keep camera EXIF preserves the complete EXIF block; Privacy clean removes it while preserving display orientation.
